Pirates are the next big thing

 When it comes to subcultures, trends play a major part in the development of a new seemingly exclusive "in" thing.

After a long period of pondering it suddenly dawned upon me: Pirates will become the new "in" thing... Not that they were ever out.

History has been proven to repeat itself, especially in regards to subcultures and the fashion trends that critically accompany them and shape their identity.


In regards to pop culture (arguably the largest subculture to ever walk planet Earth, second only to Apes) it makes perfect sense. As we move forward in time, we move backwards in fashion. So keeping my theory in mind it will not be anymore than 2 decades before "Evil Pirate Children" grow up and form the collective subculture known only as "Pirates".

 That's cool. I think it will be more about the interest in tall ships and 3/4 trousers that will tie this group of lovely patch wearing, parrot carrying members of the future together - rather than looting, rape and treasure. I think.

Remember this post. In 20 years you will all think, "Fuck there's a lot of Pirates out tonight..!"

Born to die

I hate myself and I want to die

Genre of softcore punk music that integrates unenthusiastic melodramatic 17 year olds who dont smile, high pitched overwrought lyrics and inaudible guitar rifts with tight wool sweaters, tighter jeans, itchy scarfs (even in the summer), ripped chucks with favorite bands signature, black square rimmed glasses, and ebony greasy unwashed hair that is required to cover at least 3/5 ths of the face at an angle.

Bodybuilding and all things tan!

Is it just me or has society become so obsessed in the image we portray? Bodybuilding has literally taken over mainstream society with both men and woman becoming self obsessed and gym junkies! An individual who engages in this activity is referred to as a "bodybuilder". Bodybuilding is a form of physical activity that involves intensive muscle hydrotherapy, this type of individual is obsessed in ones appearance with them being on a strict diet regime that consist of vegetables, protein shakes and lean meats. Bodybuilding has even become dare i say it.... A "competitive sport" as bodybuilders show off their lean and tone bodies in front of a panel of judges. Within the preparation of this competition both men and woman will tan there bodies in a ridiculous amounts of tan until they look like a bronze medallions.. not the most attractive look. But yet it has become the latest rage, i look forward to the end of this pretentious so called "sport" to phase out.

Alcoholics Anonymous

With alcohol becoming a staple within out diet, and the addictive alcoholic substance becoming so easy to purchase, are we becoming as society controlled by the drink? Alcoholics Anonymous also known as AA is a foundation created world wide to provide help to those with an alcoholic substance abuse problem. The goal of  the AA program is much more complicated than just staying abstinence from drinking alcohol. Its goal is to change the critical thinking of the inner alcoholic's mind set "to bring about recovery from alcoholism". This is done through a 12 step program,  its Members are encouraged to find an reformed alcoholic to guide them through the process of the program and to help with the obstacles along the way. Ideally with binge drinking becoming so common within our society today AA is becoming a regular occurrence for many of its drinkers, Alcohol is an addictive "drug" in which we use and abuse on a regular basis.

We all love to have the occasional drink don't we? I know that many of those "quiet" nights have turned into " what happened last night?" Yes we have all experienced those nights, and just quietly those are the best kind of nights! But when has enough become enough?

If you feel alcohol has taken over your emotional and psychological physic please contact your community AA program.

Fantastical world of the Otherkins!

This is probably one of the most bizarre subcultures I've ever heard about, but probably the one i'de most likely like to be apart of and have connections with because I love the idea of fantasy worlds, books and movies! Otherkins are a bunch of people who think are both human and non-human! This can be in a Spiritual, Mental, Soul or even sometimes Physical (but there is a lot of scepticism around this) way. This 'other part' of the human is called a Kin. 

This is a picture of a Heptagram; many Otherkin's use this symbol as an identifier!

The most common groups or Kin are: Dragon, Weres, Angelic/Angelkin, Demon & Fae. Also Vampires. Some more “Rare” kin are Unicorn/Alicorn, Gryphons, Mermaids, Phoenix, Draconcats (thanks to http://werewolfmegapackforums.webs.com/whatisotherkin.htm for this list)
